Pet Boarding FAQs

The safety of all of our guests is paramount. All pets that stay with Black Collar Society must have up-to-date vaccinations. These include: DHPP, rabies and bordetella. A certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian is required. We will accept titer tests measuring existence and level of antibodies to disease in blood in lieu of vaccine certificates. We recommend forwarding proof of vaccines to thepack@blackcollarsociety.com before visiting our facility to avoid being turned away due to expired or insufficient vaccines. Pets that have a complicated health history are encouraged to include documentation of their conditions.
We advise our guests to book accommodations for their pet as soon as travel plans are solidified. Weekends and holidays are peak times for pet boarding. We have limited space for our overnight guests, so please contact our office to make a reservation.
Black Collar Society is primarily an open concept facility, which means dogs typically sleep within their established play groups in our gym. Picture a doggy sleepover with beds, blankets, pillows and cots. However, if your pet's sleep routine includes crating at home we are happy to accommodate your request. We have a slumber parlour separate from the dog gymnasium where dogs that are struggling in an overnight group setting can get some rest and relaxation. During the day, we allow dogs to follow their natural rest rhythms. There's no need to crate a dog for a "nap". They are happy to rest under a tree in the yard or cuddle up with a friend.
Dogs are carefully monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. As an open concept facility, dogs sleep together in their play groups overnight unless other arrangements would be more comfortable for your pet. We have a separate slumber parlour for pets whose owners request private sleeping quarters overnight.
It depends. We take into account your dog's physical abilities, size and comfort level when placing them in our facility. Elderly dogs have a wide range of health conditions, and we take that into consideration when recommending services for elderly pets. If we believe our pet hotel will not be a good fit for your companion, we also offer in-home pet sitting options where they can stay in the comfort of their own home.
No problem! We offer preferred rates for multiple dogs within the same household.
Yes, please do. A change in their diet could easily upset their stomach and make them sick. Did you forget to drop off food? No problem! We carry a line of premium, biologically appropriate dog and cat food (Acana & Orijen) and will happily provide food from our boutique.
Our facility is cleaned and disinfected daily. While areas where dogs are will never be hospital clean, we hose down our yards and gymnasium several times throughout the day. You can book a tour to come in and take a look. We'll take you through our policies and protocols as well as show you where your pet will be staying.
